Michigan process serving, documented so the file holds up
Civil Process Group hands legal documents to the person named on them, anywhere in Michigan, and returns a signed and notarized affidavit of service. That affidavit is the product. Everything else we do exists to make it accurate.
Send the documents, tell us the deadline, and a real person picks up the phone. Quotes are free and given by phone.
What happens after you send the papers
Our process is short on purpose. Fewer handoffs mean fewer places for a serve to stall.
Intake
You send the documents and the address you have. We confirm the deadline that actually matters, which is usually a court date rather than a delivery date.
Attempts
Three attempts come standard, spread across days, evenings and weekends. A single visit at noon on a Tuesday proves very little.
Status
You get updates as attempts happen, so you learn about a difficult address while there is still time to act on it.
Affidavit
After a successful serve, the notarized affidavit reaches you within 24 hours, ready for the file.
Who sends us work
Most of our volume arrives from people who serve papers as a routine part of their week, and who need the paperwork to come back clean the first time.
Attorneys and law firms
One point of contact for filings across several counties, with the affidavit returned in a form the court accepts as proof.
Property managers and landlords
Notices to quit, demands for possession and writs of eviction, where the notice date drives every date after it.
Businesses
Corporations, limited liability companies and registered agents served at their Michigan business addresses.
Individuals representing themselves
Plain answers about what we can hand over and what belongs to the clerk instead.
Included on every completed serve
- A notarized affidavit of service, which is the document your court accepts as evidence
- Three attempts as standard, across days, evenings and weekends
- Status updates while the attempts are happening, not afterwards
- The affidavit delivered within 24 hours of a successful serve
- Mileage billed straight, with no inflation
Extra evidence, available when you ask
Some matters need more than a signature on an affidavit. Audio and video documentation of the attempt, GPS coordinates and a time stamped photograph are all available on request. They are added when you ask for them, so ask at intake rather than afterwards.
Audio and video documentation is recorded under Michigan one party consent law, MCL 750.539c. The server is the consenting party.
Where our work stops
We deliver documents and prove the delivery. We do not give legal advice, look up case status, pull court records, supply court forms or file anything with a court. We do not sell skip tracing on its own, notary only work, document retrieval or package courier delivery. If you need any of those, the clerk handling your case or an attorney is the right place to ask.
